Biography Andrew and Siri Bartlett, their son Kris and daughter Candice made a major lifestyle move ten years ago, when they relocated from Tunbridge Wells Kent to Sarasota on Florida’s Gulf Coast. Following a 20 year career in Government and then the UK buy to let market Andrew decided, after years of moaning about various aspects of life in Britain (disgusted of Tunbridge Wells!) grey skies, crime, politics, taxes etc it was time to take the plunge. They decided on Sarasota Florida, from a shortlist of five other options – after many holidays spent over 20 years travelling throughout the States, reading numerous articles, books, web sites and phone calls to try and obtain cold hard impartial advice, without the usual froth or hard sell.  Their criteria for the ideal location were based on sun, education, crime, lifestyle, culture, and a European feel, not a mass of billboards. Ten years on they are delighted with that choice, but, with the benefit of hindsight would have done certain things differently, mainly in relation to their method of emigration and their original house purchase in Florida. Sarasota is the cultural centre of the Gulf Coast combining the best  aspects of European and American lifestyles  with great theatre, operatic and  ballet, productions  and even a film festival. Dolphins swim in the bay, turtles hatch their eggs on the beaches, the golf courses are great, and there is so much to do. Waking up under peaceful blue skies and bright sunshine with the sounds of exotic parakeet, and nothing beats reading the UK papers on the beach, when feeling nostalgic. Disillusioned with the scope and quality of the relocation and property advice they had received, Andrew was headhunted byThe Coldwell Banker Real Estate group, who valuing his British experience recruited him to form an international division, which became the leading seller of Gulf Coast properties to British and European clients. He was subsequently headhunted to establish the International group with Remax Properties Florida’s largest Real Estate office. Andrew now an independent Consultant travels all over Florida  writing regular features for international property / relocation publications, as well as updates for the red guide to relocation to Florida. He also gives lectures,consultations and troubleshoots on Florida property trends, investments, location comparisons and lifestyles.
